Carpet is usually cheaper than hybrid Flooring, but hybrid is waterproof, longer-lasting, easier to clean, and weather resistant.

Floating flooring such as Hybrid shall be laid after kitchen cabinets are installed. The reason is that floating flooring isn’t rated to take the weight of the kitchen cabinets. Floating flooring expands and contracts as temperatures change and can buckle when pinned down by cabinets.

Many home renovators are keen to avoid the look of additional scotia / beading running along their kickboards, island bench and cabinets that comes with installing an floating flooring after cabinets. This scotia and beading is used to hide the expansion gaps required around the perimeter of floating flooring. To avoid the look and have a flush finish, have the kitchen installer install the cabinets without the kickboards so the floor boards can be slid under and then install the kickboards after the floors. 

There is a risk of scratching the hybrid flooring as nothing is 100% scratch resistant. Furniture protectors and sliders are great for distributing the weight of your furniture. These usually have a strong adhesive that sticks to your furniture so they don't come off its legs.

Avoid dragging or pushing when moving heavy furniture across hybrid flooring. Use a mat beneath the item to smooth the movement if it must be dragged or pushed.

Just like other floating flooring, hybrid needs a gap around the perimeter.  Therefore, the existing skirting need to be removed (reinstall once the floor is laid) or install scotia against the existing skirting to cover the gap.

Wax can NOT be used on hybrid or laminate flooring. Unlike hardwood, if wax is used on hybrid or laminate it doesn’t make it shine. Using wax on hybrid or laminate flooring can cause a buildup of dirt and actually does the opposite of what it does on hardwood. Instead of the wax making the floor shine, wax makes the hybrid or laminate look cloudy and dull.

What should be used? Stick with a hybrid or laminate floor cleaner and warm water to clean the hybrid and laminate. Be cautious of the flooring cleaners though. Always read the back label of all the cleaning supplies to make sure wax is not an ingredient as well.

Generally the bigger the room, the bigger the plank size shall be. Most floating floor board designs range between 140mm and 230mm planks.  Use 140mm-170mm wide planks to help open up smaller areas, while larger rooms look better when using 190mm-230mm planks. If there is a large room using 120mm planks, this will make the floor look extremely busy. If larger than 200mm planks are used in small rooms, it will make the room feel smaller.

Hunter AU SPC hybrid comes with an attached underlay. This adds cushion, a moisture barrier and sound reduction to the floor.  You should not add any additional cushion to the planks. Adding additional underlayment can affect the locking system strength.

You may be wondering, can SPC hybrid be used for outdoor? Most SPC hybrid is only specified for indoor usage.

Your warranty is voided if used outside. While it is possible to install SPC hybrid flooring outside, it performs best in a temperature controlled room. Your flooring can have issues when using it outside where the temperature cannot be controlled or regulated.
